GC Volleyball moves up to #8 in the NJCAA rankings

Panama City, FL - In the latest NJCAA DII Volleyball rankings, the Lady Commodores move up one spot to #8 in the Nation. 
They are currently ranked #19 in the Nation in Kills (630), 7th in Kills per set (12.60), 23rd in hitting % (.221), 19th in assists (586), 8th in Assists per set (11.72), 27th in Digs (914), and 21st in Digs per set (18.28). For the past few weeks, the Volleyball team has had two players named each week to the FCSAA Player of the Week.
 
Sept. 3:   Kya Colston (Offensive Player of the Week), Morgan Langley (Defensive Player of the Week)
Sept. 10:  Kya Colston (Offensive Player of the Week), Morgan Langley (Defensive Player of the Week)
Sept. 17: Melany Salazar (Setter of the Week), Morgan Langley (Defensive Player of the Week)
 
Next Match: #9 Pensacola St. will host the #8 Lady Commodores on Wednesday, September 18th at 6pm in Pensacola, FL.  You can watch tomorrow evening's game on https://piratenetwork.live/watch-live/
 
This past week the Lady Commodores hosted St. Petersburg, State College of Florida Mantee-Sarasota and Pasco-Hernando in the Billy Harrison Fieldhouse.

The Lady Commodores were led by Kya Colston with 11 kills, .529 K%, 4 block assists, 1 solo block and earn her team 14 points.  Sophomore Morgan Langley had 19 digs and one service ace.

After a tough first set, the Ladies were able to pull together and defeat the Lady Manatee's in three sets.

Melany Salazar: 14 digs, 2 aces

The Lady Commodores Volleyball team ended their three-game stretch with a big win over Pasco-Hernando State College, sweeping the match in three straight sets. The team's setters, Melany Salazar and Gianna DeRosa, had an outstanding afternoon, working together to collect a total of 47 assists.

The Ladies will be on the road for the next couple of weeks.  Their next home game is scheduled for Oct. 4th at 6pm vs. Florida State College - Jacksonville.
