Colston and Langley named FCSAA DII Volleyball Players of the Week
This week, two Lady Commodores volleyball players received special recognition for their outstanding performances. Sophomore Morgan Langley was named the FCSAA Division II Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman Kya Colston earned the title of FCSAA Division II Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
Morgan Langley played an impressive game on August 28th against Enterprise State, over 5 sets of play, Langley racked up 30 digs, and 7 assists helping her team on defense. Earlier in the season, during the Opening Weekend Tournament in Rockford, Illinois, Langley led the Lady Commodores' backline with 29 digs against Kirkwood and 30 digs against Parkland College. These achievements earned her a spot in the FCSAA 25 Dig Club. Langley is currently ranked 7th overall in total digs with 175, 24th in digs per set with an average of 5.65, and 24th in receptions with 176.
Kya Colston had a standout week as well, showcasing her offensive skills. In the game against Enterprise State on August 28th, Colston tallied 18 kills, with a hitting percentage of .385. She also added 2 solo blocks, 7 block assists, and scored a total of 23.5 points over 5 sets of play. Earlier that same evening, in a match against Calhoun College in Enterprise, Alabama, Colston contributed 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .500, along with 1 dig, 3 block assists, and 13.5 points over 3 sets.
This week, the Lady Commodores will be on the road with three upcoming matches. They will face Florida State College-Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL on September 6th at 6:00 p.m. EST, Lake-Sumter State in Leesburg, Florida on September 7th at 1:00 p.m. EST, and St. Johns River in Palatka, Florida on September 8th at 1:00 p.m. EST.
