Former Lady Commodore Tiffany Stansbury inducted into the FCSAA Hall of Fame Class of 2025
As a sophomore, she averaged 13.9 points per game (ppg) and 11.2 rebounds per game. Her outstanding performance earned her the State Farm/WBCA National Junior College Player of the Year award. She was also named an NJCAA First Team Kodak All-American and was recognized as the NJCAA State Player of the Year.
She played a huge role in leading her team to a 34-2 record, finishing ranked No. 2 in the country. During the 2003 NJCAA National Championship, she stepped up, averaging 18.5 ppg (second-best among all players) and leading the tournament with 10.5 rebounds per game.
Her personal bests included:
- 28 points in a single game as a freshman
- 21 rebounds in a game as a sophomore
- 2.74 blocks per game, leading her team in points, rebounds, and blocks
Over her two years at GCCC, she had a 52.4% shooting percentage, the best in school history. She lost only two games in her entire junior college career, finishing with an unbelievable 68-2 record.
North Carolina State University:
After transferring to North Carolina State, Stansbury became a two-time All-ACC selection in 2005 and 2006. She was a key player, averaging 11.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.68 blocks per game, while shooting an impressive 51.8% from the floor. Stansbury led her team in scoring, blocks, and field goal percentage both seasons.
During her time at NC State, she had 37 games where she scored in double figures, 12 games with double-digit rebounds, 10 double-doubles, and seven 20-point games. She finished her career ranked seventh all-time in school history with 99 career blocks, achieving this in just two seasons. She is also one of only seven players in NC State history to record six or more blocks in a game, and only the third to do it twice.
Stansbury earned many honors throughout her career, including:
- 2005 Freeport Division of Junkanoo Jam All-Tournament Team
- 2005 NC State Tournament All-Tournament Team
- 2006 NCAA Player of the Game vs. Tulsa in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament
- 2004 MVP of both the Paradise Jam St. Thomas Division and St. Peter's Classic
- 2005 ACC Player of the Game
- NC State State Farm Player of the Game (10 times)
- 2005 USA Basketball Women's National Team Tryouts participant
Professional Career:
In the 2006 WNBA Draft, Stansbury was selected by the Houston Comets in the 3rd round as the 29th overall pick. She went on to play in the WNBA for three seasons, spending two seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks (2006 & 2010) and one season with the Minnesota Lynx (2007).
In addition to her time in the WNBA, Stansbury had a successful 10-year professional career overseas, playing in France, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Türkiye.
