Lady Commodores Softball team ranked #11 in NJCAA DI Preseason Rankings

The Gulf Coast Lady Commodores softball team is ready to hit the ground running in the 2025 spring season, starting strong with a #11 ranking in the NJCAA Division I Preseason Rankings. With a roster full of returning talent, the Lady Commodores are aiming for a successful year. Key players who will help lead the team this season.
Kaylee Navarre
Kaylee Navarre made a big impact on the field last season as a pitcher and batter. She pitched 26 innings, earned four wins with only two losses, and had two complete games, including a shutout against Mississippi Gulf Coast on February 16, 2024. At the plate, Navarre had a batting average of .267, an on-base percentage of .371, and a slugging percentage of .367.

Ainsley Stubbs
Ainsley Stubbs was a standout pitcher last season, finishing with a perfect record of four wins and no losses with a 2.20 ERA. She pitched two complete game shutouts, one against Andrew College on March 3, 2024, and another against Calhoun Community College on March 1, 2024. Like Robinette, she was also named to the Second Team All-Academic.

Cailyn Cooke was a powerhouse at the plate in 2024, earning All-Panhandle Conference Second Team honors. She racked up 18 doubles, 42 RBIs, and had a .361 batting average. Her on-base percentage was .418, and her slugging percentage was .538, making her a key offensive player.

Kali Austerman also earned All-Panhandle Conference Second Team honors last season. She hit four home runs, drove in 42 RBIs, and stole 16 bases. Austerman had an impressive .341 batting average, a .428 on-base percentage, and a .577 slugging percentage.

Pitcher Maddie Vaughn showed her skills with a complete game performance against Andrew College on March 2, 2024. She will look to build on that success this season.

Lindsey Paul
Lindsey Paul had a standout year, earning NJCAA Region 8 DI Softball Pitcher of the Week honors on January 30, 2024. She finished the season with four wins, one loss, and a .387 batting average. Paul also brought power to the plate with a slugging percentage of .613.

Head Coach Scot Thomas and the Gulf Coast Lady Commodores softball team are thrilled to welcome an impressive group of freshmen to the roster for the 2025 season.
"This freshman class is balanced and brings a lot to the table for success," said Coach Thomas. "They've shown great potential, and we're excited to see how they contribute to the team this year."
Season Opener:
The Gulf Coast Lady Commodores softball team is starting their 2025 season on the road! They'll be traveling to Madeira Beach, Florida, to compete in the JUCO Kickoff Classic on January 24-25.
The action begins on Friday, January 24, with two exciting games. The Lady Commodores will face St. Petersburg at 9:00 a.m. CST, followed by a tough matchup against #20-ranked Santa Fe at 2:00 p.m. CST.
The team will return to the field on Saturday, January 25, for two more games. They'll take on Rend Lake College at 8:00 a.m. CST, and then wrap up the tournament against Hillsborough Community College at 10:30 a.m. CST.
