As he embarks on his third season at the helm of the Commodore Baseball Program, Coach Younger's passion for the game, coupled with his track record of success, positions him as a formidable leader poised to elevate the program to new heights of achievement and excellence.
Coach Younger brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to his second season as Head Coach of the Commodore Baseball Program. With a remarkable coaching journey marked by achievements at various levels of the game, he has established himself as a leader in player development and program excellence.
During his tenure at Mississippi State, Coach Younger played an integral role in the program's unprecedented success, contributing to back-to-back appearances in the College World Series and remarkable achievements in player development. Under his guidance, the Diamond Dawgs saw remarkable success on the field, including setting NCAA records and producing numerous MLB Draft picks, showcasing Coach Younger's prowess in both coaching and player development.
Prior to his time at Mississippi State, Coach Younger served as an assistant coach at Gulf Coast State College and Bradley University, where he played key roles in player development and program advancement. His dedication to nurturing talent and fostering success was evident as he helped numerous student-athletes transition to Division I universities and achieve their athletic goals.
Coach Younger's commitment to excellence extends beyond the collegiate level, as demonstrated by his experience with USA Baseball and the Coastal Plains League Florence Red Wolves. His diverse coaching background, coupled with his own collegiate baseball experience, has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the game and a passion for cultivating talent at all levels.
A standout student-athlete in his own right, Coach Younger excelled both on the field and in the classroom during his collegiate career at Methodist University. His accolades as a four-time USA South Academic All-Conference selection and recipient of the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award underscore his dedication to academic and athletic excellence.
Off the field, Coach Younger is a devoted husband and father, balancing his coaching commitments with family life. A native of Chatham, Virginia, he holds a bachelor's degree in physical education and health education from Methodist University, as well as a master's degree in parks, recreation, and tourism management from North Carolina State University.
